Text Message (SMS) Alerts & Opt-In

Cloak & Docket is a subscription service that tracks Mississippi state-government documents — bills, regulatory dockets, and agency actions — and lets subscribers follow the specific items that matter to them. This page describes our optional text-message alert program and shows exactly how a subscriber opts in.

What the messages are

When an item a subscriber follows changes — a new legislative action, a status change, a new docket or agency meeting — we send that subscriber a short text naming the item, what changed, and a link to the details on cloakanddocket.com. These are notifications the subscriber explicitly asked for. This is not marketing.

How subscribers opt in

Opt-in happens inside the subscriber's own account. After signing in, the subscriber opens Account → Text alerts, enters their mobile number, and checks a consent box that is unchecked by default. No number is ever collected or texted without this deliberate action, and the consent is stored with a timestamp. The exact screen the subscriber sees is reproduced below.

Program terms

• Program name: Cloak & Docket Alerts.
• Description: recurring automated text alerts about the specific Mississippi bills, dockets, and agencies a subscriber chooses to follow.
• Message frequency: recurring; varies by how many items you follow and their activity — typically a few per week.
• Cost: Message and data rates may apply. Cloak & Docket does not charge for the texts themselves.
• Opt-out: reply STOP to any message to cancel, or turn off text alerts in your account settings, at any time.
• Help: reply HELP, or contact support@cloakanddocket.com.
• Eligibility: providing a mobile number is optional and is never required to use Cloak & Docket. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.

Privacy

We do not sell or share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is shared only with our SMS delivery provider, Twilio, strictly to transmit the messages you requested.
